Infosys' Presentation at Melbourne University

On Thursday Infosys Technologies, the Indian IT giant made a presentation about their "Global Internship Program" at the university. I went to see this event along with my friends, to gather what infosys had to project about itself outside India.

Around twenty odd people attended the presentation(Indians>Chinese>Aussies). A person named Sean fernando (hr general manager-infosys australia) was at the centre, with an amicable smile, he was talking with couple of students in the front row when we entered. Around 1.15pm the presenation got underway, personally i was expecting for a big show of self prasing powerpoint slides. But it was not to be.

Sean started of with asking what students knew about Infosys.."IT services & solutions provider" said an indian student, "started by mr.narayanamurthy" said another, " a billion dollar company" came another shout. Sean managed to put his gentle but loud grin back.

Then he started his presentation saying that infosys was started by 7 people with a common goal, just with 250$ (took note of these impressive facts).......it seems that all world leaders who come to Infosys plant a tree at the campus, which was something new to hear. With that he stamped that its not all about business but about environment & society too with Infosys. A sense of pride was evident.

Then he moved into the important part, about the global internship. The general praising quotes of past interns filled the slides. Surprisingly it was more about their experience than about the company. Which was good to understand. As Sean moved on saying about the package and the duration (8-24 weeks), he came to a point where he said that only 100 students out of 10000 usually get in. Then it free lunch courtesy of infosys.

Thought the point was clear, Infosys has landed on the world platform, no doubt, so as the relentless competition which Indians are very much used to, that is, trying to be the 1 to stand out of every 100 human beings in all walks of life.
