Case studies give an awesome feeling

With strategic cost management its a continuos set of beautiful case studies which we have to solve every week. "Solve"?? may be because I see it like murder mysteries, which are very much enticing.

As Prof. Axel puts it there is no one right answer for a case study. It depends on different perspective of each student. But there can be so many wrong answers.

The first analysis of any case study would be to find the central feature, primary context, and distance backdrop of it. Even the categorization of these 3 on a case differed significantly among most students. Central features in a case is our points of interest(Eg- financial performance or risk), primary context creates the fit of that particular detail relating to the overall case, and distance backdrop are just words to give it a flavour of reality.

So in week 2 we have looked at basics of analysing stra.cost mgmt cases. In the coming weeks, a good collection of harvard cases are to be analysed. These harvard cases seem to be the same ones which were taught or analysed rather 12 months ago. cases dont become stale? do they.:.

A group of 7 Students is expected to present a case each week. Axel kept the sign up sheet on the table right at the front, having all twelve weeks in it. A student could choose the week he or she prefers to present and sign ones name on that day.
Two of us signed up for a date before the end of august.(just want to get rid of it asap). And later towards the end of the class found out that the other 5 members of our team are chinese students. Just two different countries in a group of 7. Doesn't always happen..but for sure, going to create a tough challenge in terms of comibining and understanding various thoughts as my last semester assignment work with chinese group had taught me. Hoping for a difference experience with this time around..
