"Good Job" group
The much anticipated presentation was over for our group in strategic cost management. We finally cracked the 1986 Harvard case. Some of the chinese students in my group had really put in the work.
I reading the case for more than 8 times helped immensely to get to the finer points. The night before the presentation i found myself cursing having volunteered to present, without 1st properly knowing what i was getting myself into. The hardest thing that I ve realized is that one never can get away in a presentation talking crap infront of a class which had 60 odd diverse students.
I had slept only for 4.30 hrs:( and flew to the class, coz Prof. Axel expected students to be on time, more so because it was my groups turn. Entered the class at 9.50 and sat with the usual glee. And minutes after when Prof Axel entered the class the clock turned 10.00 am ( It never works the other way ie : when its 10 his entering) .
Then it was my turn to steal the show with words, started off by saying that I shared something in common with the company president mentioned in the case. Said "The president's headache was his unit prices were going up, and mine is that my temperature is going up looking at the number of analysis which im going to explain today..so on that common note i start off..". Everyone chuckled, it was as cool as it good get. Hip hip hooray...We made our argument clear and our points were not debatable. Once it was over it was the usual applause, Did we climb mount everest by anychance?, no we didn't, but it was a small fealing of relief than satisfaction, considering the no. of hours put in to analyse and crack the case..Sigh of relief, and another episode of presentation going great guns.
